Trains

Today, I want to talk about trains. Why? Because last night I watched "Extreme Trains." The host made the comment that ever since he was young, he loved trains. The episode was about the BNSF freight train delivering consumer goods from California to Texas. This giant train traveled under L.A. in a trench, up one of the steepest inclines and thru the Mojave Desert. As I watched this show, I could feel my youth being rekindled. You see, I love trains too! In fact, like the host, I've loved trains ever since I was young. I love watching them as we travel. I love the different designs and patterns as well as the different types of trains: double stacked freight, passengers, industrial freight and so on.

The picture above is a Utah Railway locomotive. As I live in Utah, I see these trains as I travel on the freeway heading north to Salt Lake City. I'm hypnotized by the train-yards and all the cars in them.

When it comes to trains, I love them so much that I would do anything to see them. In the past, I would go with my family to a parking lot or a field near the tracks and wait for the train. We would talk and walk around or listen to music while we waited and watched. Then, that glorious sound was heard, and we all ran to see the oncoming train approach. As it went by, the force of the train would rumble and pulse through my body. I became excited and enthrilled. Adrenalin would rush through me as the locomotive thundered on by. Then, before long, it ended. The train passed.

I own train sets and train videos. I watch trains, I have pictures of trains and I've ridden on them. I am an ultimate train fan. If you're a fan of trains like me, then let me know. Until then...
